Pleasure Pie in 2025: Our Highs & Lows12/19/2025 It’s been a year with some high highs and some low lows. Here are some of our most memorable highs and lows of 2025. The highs:
1. We made more zines than any other year! Here are the zines we made this year:
And we just might finish another one before the year is up! Here are the zines that are currently in progress:
2. We created the first ever Sex Week Boston in collaboration with Mer-Made for Pleasure! This was a big undertaking and we wound up having around 25 events over the course of 8 days! They were community led sex ed events of all kinds, from a big conference for sex educators to a smut writing workshop to a shibari figure drawing night to a sex and pelvic health class. All events were open to the public and it was wonderful seeing so many sex-positive folks from all around the Boston area show up! You can see Sex Week in 15 seconds here, and learn about the perks for sponsoring Sex Week 2026 here. 3. Our fundraiser for a sex educator and his family in Gaza helped 3 people to evacuate Gaza. This one is bittersweet because it’s one of the most impactful things we’ve ever done as an organization, but our sex educator friend Mohammed, his pregnant wife Haneen (who is due in February), and several more of their family members are still trapped in Gaza. Pleasure Pie's founder, Nicole, has known Mohammed for seven years, and we're scared for him and his family. The borders are closed, and the only reason that his 3 family members were able to evacuate was because his brother got an engineering scholarship in Japan, which sponsored him. So at this point, Mohammed needs more than just funds to leave. He needs an official connection that can sponsor his exit. If you have any connections that could help with his evacuation, please respond to this email to let us know. 4. We saw people in our sexual liberation for queer folks class feel more empowered by the end of the 8 weeks. This was such an intimate experience where we got to hear people’s personal experiences and struggles and then see their reactions to learning about sexual liberation concepts and applying them to their own lives. Since much of the education we do is in the form of making zines as sex ed materials, which means that we don’t always get to see the impact they have on people up close, this was a really meaningful reminder of the power of the work we do. If you want to be a part of the course, we’re planning on offering again in the new year, probably starting in August (it’ll be virtual). The lows: 1. We haven’t been able to get the rest of Mohammed’s family out of Gaza and are feeling powerless about it (see the fundraiser high / request for connections above). 2. We were exhausted for months after sex week, which was a lot of work to put together! On the bright side though, we have lots of plans for how to streamline tasks for next year’s sex week, and we’ve already done a ton of the stuff that we need for future years (building the website, designing the logo and flyers and a million graphics, making the zine which will only need to be updated each year but not entirely redone, making the application forms, etc. etc. etc.). And we’re planning to have volunteers for 2026, which should also help. Stay tuned for volunteer opportunities! 3. We lost a lot of funding because much of our funding has typically come from college workshops, but a lot of colleges have been having sex ed funding cut this year. Thankfully, we’ve had some well-timed donations that have kept us afloat for the time being, which we are so grateful for! Want to make a donation? That would be awesome! You can donate here. Thank you so much! Any year is going to have ups and downs, but we're doing our best to learn and grow from the hard stuff and remember to celebrate the wins. Thanks to everyone who has contributed to Pleasure Pie's impact this year! Comments are closed.
