Sex and Love Discussion

This discussion was created by Nicole Mazzeo of Pleasure Pie.

Key
  • Popcorn Style - Let people speak when they have something to say, in no particular order. Not everyone needs to speak.

Discussion Outline
  • Introductions:
    • Everyone goes around and says their name and the pronouns they use.
  • Basic definitions:
    • What does sex positivity mean to you?
      • Have a couple of people give their thoughts so everyone knows what we're talking about.
  • Group guidelines:
    • We're going to be talking about some sensitive things here. What are some things that would make you feel more comfortable talking about these things in this group? (Popcorn style)
  • Invite everyone to take a deep breath. And another.
  • Discussion questions:
    • How do you determine when you love someone? Is it different for romantic love versus other kinds of love?
    • Go around in a circle so each person speaks.
    • Does the way you feel about someone change when you engage sexually with them? (Popcorn style)
      • If so, are there certain sexual acts that change your feelings more than others? (i.e. intercourse vs. kissing vs. oral sex, etc.) (Popcorn style)
        • Does being sexual with someone you love deepen your love for them? (Popcorn style)
    • Do you find that being sexual with someone feels like an expression of love? (Popcorn style)
    • What does it feel like to be sexual with someone you don't love? Have you ever tried doing that? (Have people discuss in pairs)
  • Any final thoughts or reflections? (Popcorn style)
