Sex Positive Summer Tour!

Nicole traveled south to be a part of two amazing sex positive conferences over the summer of 2015. It was a great opportunity to work with participants who knew their shit, were already passionate about overthrowing our culture's unhelpful messages about sex, and were ready to dig deeper into sex positive ways of looking at the world (and living in it / improving it).

Conference 1: Amorous Revolt

Nicole joined forces with the fabulous Chris Connolly of The Sextacular Show to bring the folks at Amorous Revolt two sex positive workshops:

Putting the Sex(y) Back in Sexually Transmitted Infections
It's time to talk about all the things you didn’t learn in your high school sex education class. We will break down exactly how each STI is transmitted and give you the tools necessary to figure out what precautions to take when you do whatever your sick, sick mind comes up with (feel free to bring ideas to class for us to work through).

Communication for Better Relationships
In this interactive workshop we will explore strategies of nonviolent communication that can help you to express yourself more effectively and listen more fully. You may find that difficult conversations don't have to turn into fights, arguments don't have to be unproductive, and better communication can create more affectionate relationships.

Conference 2: The Woodhull Sexual Freedom Summit

August 13-16, 2015  |  Virginia
The Woodhull Sexual Freedom Summit is an annual conference where people gather to share information, experiences, and strategies to use in the fight for human rights and sexual freedom.

Sex Positive Zine Making Workshop
Do you want to get your sex positive message to the world? Do you frown upon the mainstream media’s representation of sexuality? You can create your own alternative media that is empowering to the people who read it! This is a hands-on workshop where you will learn how to use the zine (booklet) as a way to convey your sex positive message/information.

To get some context, we will take a look at the role zines have played in activism over the years, as well as in the present day. You will learn how to fold one sheet of paper into an eight page zine that is easy to make copies of for distribution. We’ll also explore various ways you can convey your message to the world, including collage and writing.
