Sex-Positive Valentine Swap FAQ!
Back to the Sex-Positive Valentine Swap info page
How handmade do my valentines have to be?
It's okay if you don't make the valentines entirely from scratch, but they should have some handmade element (like a hand drawn doodle). Also, write a little message inside!
Is it okay if my cards were handmade by someone else?
Sure! You can get handmade cards from Etsy, craft fairs, etc.
Do I have to be an artist to participate?
Definitely not! All skill levels are welcome!
Can I participate if I live outside the United States?
No, sorry! We are hoping that our future swaps will be international, though.
How can I share the valentines that I make and receive (and see what others have made and received)?
We would LOVE to see them!!! Post pictures on Instagram with the hashtag #SexPosValentines and tag @pleasurepie. Note: We encourage you to capitalize the first letter of each word in the hashtag (as it is written here) to make it easier to read, especially for neurodivergent folks.
What is an appropriate sex-positive message/picture to write/draw on my valentines? What would be inappropriate?
We get that this can be confusing. For this swap, it's okay to include some sex-related themes in your card, which you're making for a stranger. But that doesn't mean that anything is appropriate. So where is the line between appropriate and inappropriate? One thing to keep in mind is the distinction between porn and art — try to keep your valentines on the art side of this (still sometimes hard to pinpoint) distinction. Also, if you use any flirty phrases, make sure that they're obviously coming from a playful place, like "Be mine," or "Valentine, you make my ovaries want to buy your groceries" (sorry for the terrible rhyme; I'm making this up as I go). For ideas for sex-positive messages that would be appropriate check out our listicle of Sex-Positive Valentines!
Some ideas for themes include sexual autonomy, consent, body acceptance, gender equality, self love, comprehensive sex education, LGBTQIA+ rights, sexual health, self care, embracing pleasure, overcoming sexual shame, and more!
I have a different question!
